Includes 26 document boxes containing newspaper clippings, handwritten notes, typescripts, galley proofs, setting copies, page proofs relating to the authors' novels and short stories. Includes screenplays for novels that were made into movies such as They came to Cordura, Bless the beasts and the children, and The shootist which the Swarthout's son, Miles Hood Swarthout, co-scripted. Also includes a teleplay written by Miles Swarthout for The Melodean. Five of the document boxes contain materials dealing with children's books that Glendon and Kathryn co-authored. The collection is accompanied by 107 published monographs.

American authors. Glendon Fred Swarthout was an English professor at Michigan State University from 1951 to 1959, and on the faculty of Arizona State University from 1959 to 1963. Glendon Swarthout (1918 April 8-1992 September 23) taught English at Michigan State University (1951-1959) and at Arizona State University (1959-1963).
